Was looking at some installation photos today and to my horror I think I have wired this up wrong. I should have used 2 of J803 boxes - one for each ring wire I was extending. I must of thought at the time that each terminal inside the box was independent (like a choc-block) - but testing one now with my multi-meter shows the following diagram. It appears that the entire light itself is one large junction box - the box has two lights coming out of it, and also the motion sensor.
